JEDDAH | 07-11-2026 : Saudi Arabia is preparing for a new spell of rain expected to affect most regions, with moderate to heavy rainfall forecast for Jeddah and Rabigh on Saturday, according to Saudi Gazette. The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has urged the public to monitor weather alerts and stay away from flood channels and valleys while water is flowing.

In its November 6 report, the newspaper said the weather system was expected to begin affecting the Kingdom on Friday. Rainfall would vary in intensity, with the forecast extending to coastal areas of the Makkah region. The center expects the rain to become more widespread and intensify on Monday and Tuesday.

Jeddah and Rabigh in the coastal forecast

The forecast identifies Jeddah and Rabigh as locations expected to receive moderate to heavy rain on Saturday. Both were highlighted in the NCM’s account of the anticipated rainfall along the Makkah region’s coast, Saudi Gazette reported.

NCM spokesman Hussein Al-Qahtani said the center was preparing to monitor the new rain wave. He described it as a system expected to affect most regions from Friday and drew particular attention to the Saturday forecast for Jeddah and Rabigh.

The outlook distinguishes between the start of the rain spell, the coastal rainfall expected on Saturday and a broader increase early in the following week. Although most regions are expected to be affected, the center said rainfall intensity would differ across the Kingdom.

Rain expected to strengthen early next week

According to Saudi Gazette’s account of the NCM forecast, the rain wave is expected to expand and intensify across most parts of Saudi Arabia on Monday and Tuesday. That anticipated development follows the initial onset on Friday and the moderate to heavy coastal showers forecast for Saturday.

The timing and intensity described by the center are forecasts, rather than reports of rainfall already observed. Saudi Gazette’s report focused on the expected progression of the weather and the precautions the NCM asked the public to take as the rain spell develops.

Public urged to follow alerts and avoid flowing water

The NCM urged people to follow its latest reports and alerts and to exercise caution during rainfall, according to Saudi Gazette. Al-Qahtani also called on the public to comply with instructions issued by the relevant authorities.

His safety advice specifically addressed flood channels and valleys: people should stay clear of them and should not attempt to cross while water is flowing. That warning accompanied the forecast of rain affecting much of the country, including the heavier showers anticipated along parts of the Makkah coast.

For the public, the center’s guidance is to keep following updated weather information throughout the forecast period, with rain expected from Friday and a wider, stronger spell anticipated on Monday and Tuesday.
